You can get to know the colourful phases of Finnish military history in the exhibitions of the Military Museum in Suomenlinna.

The Military Museum has three exhibition locations in Helsinki: Military Museum's Manege, Artillery Manege and submarine Vesikko are all located in Suomenlinna.

In the exhibitions of the Military Museum´s Manege and the Artillery Manege you can familiarise yourself with the history of the Finnish Defence Forces and the wars Finland has fought during its independence. There are also special exhibitions about soldier´s life in Finland and elsewhere and about front line art. Submarine Vesikko is an authentic and rare museum exhibit from the World War II era.

Sustainability

The Military Museum's exhibitions were awarded the STF label on 22.12.2025

At the end of 2025, the Military Museum's exhibitions completed the Sustainable Travel Finland programme, at the end of which it was granted the right to use the STF label in recognition of the work done for sustainable tourism. However, receiving the label, which is valid until November 2027, means only the beginning of the work. The first tasks on the agenda are to establish responsibility and sustainability as part of the Exhibition Unit's daily work and to create an organization that manages the matter, to ensure that the requirements of the National Defence University's Green Office certificate are realized at the Military Museum's exhibitions, and to bring the sustainability activities of the Military Museum's exhibitions into line with the principles of sustainable tourism at the World Heritage Site Suomenlinna.
